:: Highly sophisticated, very finely woven, and elaborate Tabriz silk with roundel design adorned on the perimeter by extension trefoil contour repeating boteh design filled imagery. In the main border of the carpet are inscriptions likely citing literature atop a lightning serrated ground design motif. Interior medallion bearing concentric starburst design minor medallion with interior floral filled vines and blossoms, and center inscription translating to 'Best Wishes'. Possible a table top dowry, with very few examples known to exist. Very high knot count, roughly 19 horizontal and 23 vertical = 435 /- double node knots showing. Possible age dates to 3rd quarter 19th century. Colors and shades include: Rust red, navy blue, terracotta, madder root red, sky blue, indigo blue, gold, saffron yellow, tangerine orange, beige, sand and more. Condition notes: Mostly even wear across to knot heads with small isolated areas of foundation showing through. Tatter to sides and ends. Multiple areas of repairs in varying degrees of expertise. Extremely fragile, but not cracking and no powdering of silk, with at least a dozen minor splits. Ideal candidate for conservation to linen for hanging display or collection as opposed to utility on the floor or as a throw. Recently professionally cleaned ready for in-home use!
